Living in San Diego, we experience great weather year round, so we spend a lot of time in the water. As a parent, swim safety is of utmost importance, so we’ve invested in swim lessons many times over the years. I was so excited to see a new option open up in our community recently called SafeSplash Swim School. They were kind enough to give my kids a test drive of their new swim school in Chula Vista, CA in exchange for me sharing the details of our experience.
SafeSplash Swim School Offerings
I was conveniently able to schedule simultaneous lessons for my 3- and 8-year-old kids at SafeSplash. When we noticed my 3-year-old had better abilities than mom may have realized and needed to bump her up to a higher level, it was easy to find a new time slot for my son as well. The SafeSplash website guides you through finding the right class level, all of which have a max 4:1 ratio. Classes range from parent-and-me classes to their Level 8 advanced swimming classes to prepare swimmers for competitive swimming.
Our SafeSplash Swim School Experience
My children just completed their 4th class with SafeSplash Swim School and I’m thrilled with what all they learned in this short amount of time. Before the first class, my daughter was afraid to get into a pool without her arm floats. By the end of that first class, she wanted nothing to do with the floats! Now, after four classes, she is constantly begging to swim back and forth to the stairs in the pool.
My son, who was already swimming fairly well on his own, is now learning proper swim strokes. He’s been proudly demonstrating his swim techniques and is challenging himself to swim for longer distances under water. His form has improved tremendously with just 4 lessons and I’m even more confident with him in the water than ever before. He has even been talking about one day joining a swim team!
Both of my kids loved the swim instructors they worked with at SafeSplash and looked forward to each lesson. The only thing I would change if I could would be to get more communication from the instructors after each class. It would be nice to perhaps be given some things to work on outside of class since we’re at our community pool often. Other than that, our entire experience was great and everyone there was very friendly and helpful.
