“I switch perfumes all the time. If I’ve been wearing one perfume for three months, I force myself to give it up, even if I still feel like wearing it, so whenever I smell it again it will always remind me of those three months…Smell really is transporting. Seeing, hearing, touching, tasting are just not as powerful as smelling if you want your whole being to go back for a second to something. It’s a neat way to reminisce.”

The above quote from Andy Warhol is the inspiration behind Scentbird, a new monthly subscription service that allows you to try a new designer perfume every 30 days for merely $14.95 a month. The monthly fee buys you a 30-day supply of the luxury fragrance of your choice, delivered right to your door. Scentbird uses a proprietary fragrance “search engine” of sorts, which makes it quick and simple to find your perfect scents from a list of over 350 that Scentbird currently offers.

I recently gave Scentbird a test drive and I must say, it really is an amazing idea! I am one of those people who easily grows bored of a fragrance after a few months. Or, I’ll smell a perfume sample in a magazine that I adore but can’t rationalize buying because I have 3 full-size bottles of other fragrances waiting to be used. When I first logged into Scentbird, I completed the questions to get my fragrance suggestions. Among them were several that I have worn and loved before like Ralph Lauren Romance and Gucci Rush. I thought I’d go for something I hadn’t worn before and chose Hermes 24 Faubourg. It arrived a few days later in a cute purse spray format with a black pouch to tuck it into. Every month, you just pull the fragrance tube out of the dispenser and replace it with your new fragrance. You can create a queue of fragrances to try out and get the exact perfume that you want every month. The purse sprays are 8ml each, enough to apply daily for the entire month. If you’re still rotating with your full-size bottles, it’ll last even longer! Visit Scentbird.com to discover your own unique fragrance recommendations. Let me know what you try first!
