Stitch Fix January 2015 Overview

Happy New Year everyone! I took a month off from Stitch Fix in part due to my holiday spending spree, but also because my last fix wasn’t a great fit and I got a bit frustrated. I have to say though, their customer service team was very responsive to my dissatisfaction and sent me a great fix styled by one of their top stylists to make up for it. They’ve definitely won my heart back! I felt like this fix was much more my style and everything fit much better than last time around where I had things way too small and way too big in the same box. They also sent all clothing and no accessories which was a bit more fun in my opinion! Here’s the rundown on what I received in my Stitch Fix January 2015 box:

State Side Hildie Layered Knit Top

When I first took this State Side Hildie Layered Knit Top (pictured below) out of the box, I thought it was pretty basic and rather sheer. Probably not a keeper. Then I tried it on with the Liverpool Shania jeans and fell in love! It’s so comfortable and a nice casual layered-look style that’s great for a busy mom like me. It’s something I could wear running errands or to happy hour with the ladies. It wasn’t really all that sheer once it was on, even though it’s pretty thin, and obviously very white. I thought for sure I would be keeping it, until I went to check out and saw that it was $68. Bummer, to me it was a bit much for something so simple and lightweight. At a slightly lower price point I would have most definitely kept this top, but at the rate I ruin shirts (thanks kids), I just couldn’t do it, especially not in white!

Liverpool Shania Stitched Detail Jean

The Liverpool Shania Stitched Detail Jean (pictured both above and below) caught my eye right out of the box. You can’t really tell in my photos, but up the side seams there’s a nice stitch detail that’s about an inch wide that gives the jeans a unique look without being too overboard. They can function as a casual counterpart to flats or flip-flops, but they can easily be dressed up for a night out. These jeans fit me just perfect in almost every way! They are pretty stretchy, so even though they’re a slim/skinny jean, they are very comfortable. I would have preferred a slightly shorter inseam and more tapered ankle as they bunch a bit at the bottom, but that’s nothing my local seamstress can’t handle! Priced at $78, I decided to keep these. Finding good fitting jeans is hard work, when they come right to your doorstep you can’t possibly turn them away!

Skies are Blue Suri Sequin Embellished Knit Top

This Suri Sequin Embellished Knit Top from Skies are Blue (above) was the first thing I saw in my fix this month, it was right on top of the box and I jumped with joy when I saw it. I love shiny sparkly things, and photos do not do justice to the sparkle the sequins have on this top! I immediately loved the geometric print and the colors, I thought for sure this was a keeper! Then, I put it on. It wasn’t bad really, but just sort of hung there, perhaps a little loose-fitting or a bit too short, or both. I don’t know really what it was but it just didn’t feel as glamorous as it looked in the box. With the amazingly awesome price of $34, I almost kept it anyway, but ultimately decided not to. Look at me shopping responsibly!

41Hawthorn Leilani Folded Neckline Dress

Well this one was easy because it didn’t fit! Otherwise it may have been tough, this Leilani Folded Neckline Dress by 41Hawthorn is a super cute LBD and similar to a dress I bought at GAP years ago. I love the fitted waistline and looser fit around the tummy (you can eat in this dress!) The pockets are a cute touch too and it was priced at only $68. The only thing I may not have liked had it fit properly is the high neckline, I would prefer something slightly lower. But, alas, I could only zip it halfway so this one had to go back.

LA MADE Nettie Thermal Dress

Last but not least, a repeat from a previous box, the LA MADE Nettie Thermal Dress. There was a price discrepancy on this dress last time around and it was listed higher than the $58 price tag at checkout so I chose not to buy it. I guess it was all for a reason, even though I asked for it again, this time around I just didn’t love it as much. It’s cute and super comfy, I guess I still struggle with when and how to wear it. It’s also another case of the too-high neckline for someone who’s busty.

All in all, even though I only kept the jeans, I really loved my Stitch Fix January 2015 box and had fun trying everything on. I’m going to order another box for February and see if we can keep up this good streak!
