Stitch Fix August 2014

Stitch Fix August 2014

This is my fourth month receiving a box from Stitch Fix (see my other reviews here and here), and I must say I’m somewhat relieved that I didn’t love the selections this month since money is a bit tight! Out of the box there were only 2 things I really thought I would like and the top I liked ended up being a bit too loose-fitting, so I only ended up keeping the necklace. Nevertheless, I still had fun trying it all on! Here’s a rundown of what I received this month:

Stitch Fix August
Gilli Oria Paisley Blocked Maxi Dress

The Gilli Oria Paisley Blocked Maxi Dress is actually a pretty nice dress at $74. I liked the style and mostly liked the cut, although the neckline was a bit high for me. I just don’t wear many maxi dresses being only 5’4″, I feel like they make me look even shorter. I own two and have worn them a combined two times I think! So, I don’t really need to add any more to my collection at the moment.

Pomelo Jillian Crochet Detail Tank

I thought for sure I would love this Pomelo Jillian Crochet Detail Tank with a price of $48. The back is super cute with the crochet detail around the neckline and I also love the bright color for summer! However, it was just a bit too loose-fitting and flowy for me and I felt like I drowned in it! So, it was a no-go for me on this tank.

Collective Concepts Drea Polka Dot Sleeveless Fit & Flare Dress

This $78 Collective Concepts Drea Polka Dot Sleeveless Fit & Flare Dress was just all wrong for me. I knew from the moment I saw it that I would not like anything about it. I’m not a big polka dot person (although in the right garment I’d consider them), and the cut and style of this dress was just way too June Cleaver for me! It was not flattering at all for my body type either having larger hips and bust. This was the easiest decision of the box, no thanks!

Liverpool Carolynn Cuffed Denim Short

Although the Liverpool Carolynn Cuffed Denim Shorts, priced at $44, looked HUGE as I pulled them out of the box, they ended up only fitting slightly large. I’m guessing they may even shrink a bit upon washing? They were super long for my short legs though and I had to roll the cuffs up a bit more to make them work. I dig the light yellow color, again another fun bright summer look, but they just weren’t terribly flattering or exciting to me. I just bought a ton of shorts at LOFT for under $20 that I’m in love with, so I had to pass on these. I think I prefer more of a tailored look to my shorts and would rather they not be cuffed.

Stitch Fix August danielle long knot necklace
Pixley Danielle Long Knot Necklace

And last but not least, the one item I did decide to keep this month, the Pixley Danielle Long Knot Necklace, priced at $34. Since I was able to use my $20 styling fee as a credit, it was really only $14! I like the sheen this necklace has and it’s very versatile with the ability to be looped around your neck 2 or 3 times. A girl can never have too much jewelry, right?!

Are you a Stitch Fix member? I’d love to hear about your box this month and what you liked and didn’t like about it! If you aren’t a member, I’d highly suggest checking out the Stitch Fix website and filling out your style profile! You’ll get 5 items sent to you every month for just a $20 styling fee, which you can use as a credit if you decide to purchase anything. Whatever you don’t like, just drop in the postage-paid bag and send it back!

  1. I really like the necklace! I am supposed to get my first Stitch Fix on August 21st, so I am anxiously waiting for my box to arrive.
